Project Highlights

Several vacant structures, including homes and commercial buildings were demolished to make way for the recently constructed three-story Veddersburg Apartments property on Main Street, Amsterdam, NY. The affordable housing complex includes 63 apartment units with on-site supportive services. 

The development was designed according to the regulations of the NYSERDA Low Rise New Construction program and LEED version 4, BD+C Homes.

M/E Role

M/E provided HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical engineering design and construction administrative services for this project, including:

• New electric service: 208V, 3-phase, 1600A
• 60 kW diesel emergency generator
• LED lighting and controls to meet Energy Star
• Energy recovery ventilation unit for common spaces
• Individual apartments served with natural gas furnaces and condensing units
• New domestic water and fire protection services including backflow preventer
• Central domestic hot water and storage tank system
