Samaritan Hospital - Burdett Care Center Renovation

Project Highlights

Renovation of the second floor of the woman's ambulatory care and maternity center to create the Burdett Care Center, an independent separately licensed hospital offering maternity and reproductive services. The project included a new delivery operating room, a new nursery, LDR and LDRP rooms.

Challenges

The main challenge was undertaking a major renovation in an occupied space while upgrading the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of the facility. The existing systems were aging and not capable of meeting modern patient care standards including the new operating room. The project spaces were continuously occupied and utilized for maternity services throughout the duration of the project. The multiple renovation phases required careful coordination and planning to provide and improve the patient care environment.
