Project Highlights

Southland Casino and Raceway added a hotel and casino addition to the existing facility of Southland Park Gaming located in West Memphis, Arkansas. The hospitality project consists of a new 950,000 SF casino with various food venues and a connection to the existing facility. It also includes a 300 room, 20-story hotel tower topped with 12 penthouse suites and a new 5-story parking garage.

This project includes:

• Casino - with 2,400 Slot Machines, 50 Live Table Games, Player’s Lounge with 40 seats located next to cage and high-limit, 3 service bars, lobby bar and steakhouse bar
• Food Venues - including a buffet, food hall, center bar, steak house and coffee shop
• Hotel - 300 rooms
• Garage - 5 story parking garage with capacity of 1,250 spaces
• Meeting Room Space

M/E Role

M/E Engineering provided the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power, lighting and telecommunication design for this new Resort Casino. As a design-assist project M/E worked with a mechanical and electrical contractor from Design Development through Construction Documents and Construction Administration to deliver this new state-of-the-art facility for West Memphis, Arkansas. The main challenge was to design a facility on-time and on-budget while honoring the architectural design and elements. To add to the complexity, this project started prior to the COVID shutdown and then restarted after COVID, so had to incorporate measures that projected the systems already installed and revise the design to meet new expectations and standards to help fight infectious diseases.
