Buffalo City Hall

High-Rise Elevator Modernization

Buffalo, NY

Project Highlights

Buffalo City Hall is an iconic Art Deco, 32-story skyscraper designed by architect John Wade, making it one of the largest city halls in the country. It was completed in 1931 and is on the State and National Register of Historic Places.

M/E Role

Mechanical and electrical engineering design and construction administration services for renovations to four (4) high-rise elevators in Buffalo’s 28-story City Hall plus HVAC, electrical and plumbing modifications required to accommodate toilet renovations and roof replacements. M/E Engineering worked closely with the architect to coordinate this project. City Hall remained fully occupied throughout the construction of the modernization so the work had to be carefully scheduled and coordinated to assure the elevators were not affected by the work and remained in operation at all times.
